All the information is available and the style of painting is honest. The image, however, is mysterious. Scale has been distorted and familiar landscape formats delve into more ambiguous realms. David Micheaud uses traditional painting techniques to create theatrical atmospheres, leading objects and sites away from accurate representation and into isolated and melancholic situations. Things might appear alone, but their loneliness is not one of negative depression; it is a much needed time for thought and reconsideration.
