Some events are too catastrophic, too disastrous or scandalous to want to remember. They find themselves erased from local history, bulldozed, perhaps, or just buried. They remain awkwardly unspoken, hoping to be forgotten. Over time pictures and images in the minds of individuals and communities, those involved in past events, slowly fade away, but are never completely obliterated. A document might remain, a rumour or a memory is disturbed, so mundane and everyday sites can become the subject of disturbing fiction.
